CHC43115 – Certificate IV in Disability

 

Gain the skills you need to help people with a disability to achieve greater levels of independence, self-reliance, community participation and wellbeing.

When you complete this course, you’ll be able to work as an accommodation support officer, personal care worker, disability support worker or in a range of other roles.

The course involves: 14 units of competency (11 core, 3 elective) + a 120-hour work placement

Prerequisites: There are no entry requirements for this course. Previous experience in the industry or entry level studies would be helpful.

Previous experience: You may be able to get credit for units that you’ve studied in other courses. You can also apply for recognition of prior learning, which takes into account the skills and knowledge you’ve gained in previous jobs or education.

Assessment: Your assessment might include questions/answers, case studies, workplace documents, practical demonstrations and observations, and reports from your supervisor. We’ll make sure that you’re given every possible chance to succeed.

Pathways: When you successfully complete this course you can go on to other courses such as a Certificate IV in Leisure and Health, Certificate IV in Ageing Support or other tertiary qualifications. You’ll gain valuable experience in community access and change, social justice and advocating for people with a disability. You’ll also improve your life skills so that you can better support family, friends and community members who need care.

Before you enrol you’ll need to:

  • successfully complete a pre-course interview with us
  • be willing to do a 120-hour work placement
  • be willing to obtain a Police Check before your placement.
