CHC43015 – Certificate IV in Ageing Support

 

You can make a real difference in the lives of others when you become an aged care support professional. In this course you’ll learn to facilitate the empowerment of older people and support them to make the most of their lives.

When you complete this course, you’ll be able to work as a personal care supervisor, team leader, community program coordinator or high-level personal care assistant.

The course involves: 18 units of competency (15 core, 3 elective) + a 120-hour work placement

Prerequisites: There are no entry requirements for this course. Previous experience in the industry or entry level studies would be helpful.

Previous experience: You may be able to get credit for units that you’ve studied in other courses. You can also apply for recognition of prior learning, which takes into account the skills and knowledge you’ve gained in previous jobs or education.

Assessment: Your assessment might include questions/answers, case studies, workplace documents, practical demonstrations and observations, and reports from your supervisor. We’ll make sure that you’re given every possible chance to succeed.

Pathways: When you successfully complete this course you can go on to other courses such as a Certificate IV in Leisure and Health, Certificate IV in Disability or other tertiary qualifications. You’ll also improve your life skills so that you can better support family, friends and community members who need care.

Length: 12 months

Before you enrol you’ll need to:

  • successfully complete a pre-course interview with us
  • be willing to do a 120-hour work placement
  • be willing to obtain a Police Check before your placement.
